AX Holdings has appointed Michael Warrington as the group’s new CEO. Mr Warrington has been with the AX Group for over 16 years and worked closely with the chairman and former CEO Angelo Xuereb. Due to the company’s rapid expansion Mr Xuereb decided to separate his two previous roles.

Mr Warrington is a Certified Public Accountant and a Fellow of the Malta Institute of Accountants, as well as an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers in the UK. He holds a Master’s degree in financial services from the University of Malta. Mr Warrington is also a director of AX Investments plc and of Forthnet SA. He has held various board positions with private companies and public listed entities.

“Throughout his career, Michael has amply proved his leadership skills and gained an impressive track record in his working field. We are confident that this appointment will continue to deliver the strategic direction to the group in fulfilling the desired corporate objectives and goals,” said Mr Xuereb.

New director of operations at Halmann Vella

Hugh Vella has been appointed director of operations at Halmann Vella, while Adrian Borg has joined the team as director of contracts and projects.

Mr Vella has worked in the construction industry for nine years, having held posts of structural engineer and façade engineer. He holds a degree in Architecture and Civil Engineering from the University of Malta and a Master’s in Façade Engineering from the University of Bath.

Adrian Borg has over 25 years’ experience in the construction and project management industry. He spent almost 11 years working on overseas projects, specifically in Libya where he was part of the project management team of the Corinthia.

He also headed the Palm City Residences Complex and the Investment Complex of the World Islamic Society. Locally, he was also involved in various large projects such Midi, Golden Sands Hotel, BOV Processing Centre, various pharmaceutical factories, the Fortina Hotel and Baystreet.

“We are very excited at the prospect of continuing to expand our team and capabilities. The new directors will work side by side with the other members of the management team: Owen Farrugia, director of sales; Martin Ciappara, IT director; Chris Tonna, chief financial officer; and Adrian Vella Petroni, director of properties. Their combined vision and skills will be critical to our short- and long-term plans, so we can look forward to an exciting future,” said Martin Vella, chairman of Halmann Vella.
