The Commission on Domestic Violence, set up in March last year by Family Minister Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, is considering the ratification of the Istanbul Convention on the Prevention and Combating of Violence Against Women.

The commission’s annual report up to last February, tabled in Parliament yesterday, said it was comparing the convention with local legislation scenario.

The stakeholders would be identified so that together they would work on the changes necessary for ratification.

Marceline Naudi, who had worked on the drafting of the convention, was identified as the person to coordinate meetings among stakeholders.
