A 75-year-old woman was yesterday cleared of insulting a man who claimed that her grand-son had made his 15-year-old daughter pregnant.
The man, who is not being named to protect the identity of his daughter, testified that last June he was approached by the woman at his workplace and asked if he recognised her.
She told him she was the grandmother of the person who he claimed had impregnated his daughter. But his daughter had slept with six other men, she continued, and her grandson was definitely not the father.
The man told the court that he felt insulted by the woman’s words, especially since they were uttered in front of clients and colleagues.
MagistrateFrancescoDepasq-uale ruled that from the evidence tendered it was clear that the woman did not utter any insulting words and acquitted her.
Lawyer Gabrielle Zammit appeared for the woman.
