• The 64th anniversary of the 1948 Ħondoq ir-Rummien sea tragedy in which 23 people lost their lives will be marked today with the celebration of Mass aboard a Gozo Channel ferry at the site of the tragedy at 10am.

• Gozo Day is being celebrated today. At 5.30pm the St Margaret Band of Sannat will execute a band march from Independence Square, Victoria, to Cathedral Square, followed by thanksgiving Mass at the Cathedral at 6pm. After Mass, the band will return to Independence Square. Flowers will be placed at the foot of archpriest Saverio Cassar monument, while Gozo Region president Samuel Azzopardi will deliver a commemorative speech. The Victoria and Xagħra Scouts Groups will take part.

• The feast of St Dimitri is being celebrated in Għarb today. There will be several activities from 11am, while Fr Roberto Gauci will celebrate Mass at the chapel of St Dimitri at 3.30pm. Can. Joseph Cini will celebrate another Mass at 5.30pm.

• The Catholic Action Dramatic Group of Xagħra will stage Il-Maġistrat Montaldo Castello, a comedy in three acts by J. Azzopardi, at the Catholic Action centre in Xagħra today at 6.30pm.

• Masses at Ta’ Pinu Sanctuary will be said today at 6.15, 8.30, 10 and 11.15am and 5pm, followed by the recital of the rosary and Eucharistic benediction.

• The Friends of the Sick and Elderly in Gozo will be holding a charity sale at the football ground near the main car park in Victoria today from 8am to 1pm. The price is €10 for each car space.

• War Horse will be screened at the Don Bosco Oratory, Victoria, today at 5.30pm.

• Frammenti, a collective photographic exhibition by nine Gozitan photographers, will be opened by Gozo Minister Giovanna Debono at the Citadel Centre for Culture and Arts, Victoria, today. The exhibition will remain open until November 25.

• The Dun Mikiel Attard Group will be holding a prayer meeting at Our Lady of Mount Carmel church, Ta’ Ħamet, on Thursday at 7pm.

• The Gozitan Graduates Movement will be holding First Friday Mass at St Augustine church,Victoria, at 8pm. The sacrament of reconciliation will be available.

• The diocesan Eucharistic Movement will be holding a prayer evening at the Good Shepherd church, Victoria, on Saturday at 8pm, followed by Mass at midnight.

• The Bethel Charismatic Group will be holding a prayer meeting at Our Lady of Pompeii church, Victoria, on Saturday at 7pm.

• A mid-term holiday hike for youngsters will be held on Thursday, leaving the Don Bosco Oratory in Victoria at 1pm.

• Preparations are well underway for the new musical Il-Miraklu ta’ Marcellino to be staged at the Don Bosco Oratory in Victoria next month. Shows will be held on November 17 and 24 at 7.30pm, while a matinee show will be held on November 18 at 2.30pm. For booking, call 2155 6616 or 9948 7751.
