Mick Jagger, who has led the band since they formed in 1962, has been married twice, fathered seven children by four women and has been linked to a string of models, actresses and musicians since he shot to fame.

But the Satisfaction star has now been with his current girlfriend, fashion designer L’Wren Scott, since 2001.

Jagger – charming and stylish – was in his early 20s when he began mixing with the young, liberated and drug-taking men and women of the London in-crowd in the Swinging Sixties.

It was at a launch party for the group’s debut album, self-titled The Rolling Stones, in 1964 that Jagger met the first of his famous lovers, British singer Marianne Faithfull, and their much-publicised relationship began in 1966.

Faithfull, who battled drug addiction throughout the 1960s, was part of the band’s inner circle throughout their early years and, as Keith Richards wrote in his autobiography, Life, she also had a brief fling with the lead guitarist.

She was at Richards’s Redlands home in Sussex when police famously raided the property, after which Jagger and Richards were jailed, and was reportedly found wearing only a fur rug.

The couple split in 1970, by which time Jagger had already started affairs with other women, as in November that year he had his first child, Karis, with American-born singer Marsha Hunt.

Hunt and Jagger reportedly started seeing each other in the summer of 1969 and, while the Stones vocalist was in Australia filming Ned Kelly, he sent Hunt a series of love letters.

In December last year, Hunt sold 10 of the “poetic and self-aware” love letters for a staggering £187,250, because she was reportedly “broke”.

Jagger married his first wife, Nicaraguan-born Bianca De Macias, in May 1971 in Saint-Tropez in France, in front of guests Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Eric Clapton and Keith Moon.

De Macias, pregnant with Jagger’s second daughter, Jade, was reportedly asked to sign a lengthy pre-nuptial agreement by the singer on their wedding day.

She later said that her marriage ended on her wedding day, it has been reported.

After six years the couple separated and in May 1978 the former actress and model filed for divorce on the grounds of Jagger’s adultery.

Before the legal split, Jagger began seeing American model Jerry Hall, with whom he had two sons and two daughters across 14 years.

Elizabeth was born in March 1984, James in August 1985, Georgia in January 1992 and Gabriel in December 1997.

The couple lived together unmarried for several years but eventually tied the knot in a Hindi beach ceremony in Bali in November 1990.

However, amid more affairs, flings and another child on the way with another woman, Hall and the singer split in 1999.

Shortly before Jagger and Hall’s marriage was annulled on the grounds that their wedding ceremony had no legal status in the UK, Jagger’s seventh child, Lucas, was born in May 1999 to Brazilian model Luciana Gimenez.

Jagger’s love life has been the subject of rumour, gossip and speculation for the 50 years he has been with The Rolling Stones.

As well as famously being linked with former model Carla Bruni, now the wife of former French President Nicolas Sarkozy, he has reportedly been involved with Angelina Jolie, Sophie Dahl, Carly Simon and David Bowie.
