St Edward’s College, Cottonera, recently inaugurated a new sports complex which includes an eight-lane track, a nine-a-side synthetic turf pitch and fully-refurbished basketball and tennis courts.

The complex, which has transformed the large space at the back of the school, was launched in March 2013, with works starting last July. It was funded and supported by the National Lotteries Good Causes Fund Committee and the trustees of the Lady Strickland Trust for St Edward’s College. The school’s Parent Teacher Association and parents also supported the project. Albert Borg Costanzi was the project architect.

The complex was blessed by Auxiliary Bishop Charles Scicluna and inaugurated by Education Minister Evarist Bartolo, who said that “sports should be part and parcel of our education”.
