Just over €19,500 worth of medicines were collected in October and November last year because they had become expired or damaged.
Answering a parliamentary question by Opposition health spokesman Claudio Grech, Health Minister Godfrey Farrugia said these medicines were picked up from those taking part in the Pharmacy of Your Choice Scheme.
The figure represented 250 kinds of medicine, amounting to 0.66 per cent of those distributed by the 212 pharmacies in the scheme.
