Thirteen years ago, Colin Best and I realised there was a lack of an objective restaurant guide in Malta and Gozo. Since we were both promising gourmands, we decided that it might be a good idea to work on a publication specific to Malta which would guide both locals and tourists to the good restaurants on the islands.

With Colin’s incredible experience in market research and his very successful international business, International Planning & Research, we were able to utilise this expertise in setting up an objective, survey-based restaurant guide called The Definitive(ly) Good Guide to Restaurants in Malta & Gozo.

Thirteen years later, thanks to Colin’s generosity in sharing his great knowledge, time and confidence in myself and my company, the restaurant guide today is the authoritative annual guide to the best restaurants in Malta.

The annual award ceremony is considered by the restaurants industry to be the ‘Oscars’ of the restaurant scene, encouraging competition between restaurants as well as new ideas and innovation.

Without question, his support of the guide has contributed to the industry, making Colin’s objective of putting Malta on the map as a gastronomic destination in the Mediterranean an outstanding success.

Thank you Colin for holding the flag for Malta, while giving us all a more pleasurable dining experience. On a more personal note, I am incredibly grateful to have known such a kind, wise, funny and generous friend and mentor. I will treasure every memory and will take with me all that he has taught me on my life journey.
