A drug trafficker has been jailed for three years and four months after he admitted to selling cocaine while a previous suspended sentence was in operation.

Terence Cini, 28, from Qormi was found in possession of 22 sachets of cocaine on Monday in Marsa.

He pleaded guilty to aggravated possession of the drug, committing the crime during the operative period of a suspended jail term and simple possession of heroin.

Police Inspector Herman Mula exhibited a number of blades, a container of sodium bicarbonate and three mobile phones that were confiscated from the accused.

He said the bicarbonate was used as a cutting agent and requested an effective jail term.

Magistrate Ian Farrugia jailed him for 16 months for the crime and brought into effect the suspended prison sentence.
