I wish to kindly remind St Paul’s Bay/Qawra police station that the last part of the road in Triq San Ġorġ, St Paul’s Bay, leading down to HSBC Bank is a one-way street – unless the information given by the Home Affairs Ministry is all wrong. Why am I reminding the police force?

It is because some drivers, particularly those driving coaches, defy all common sense and proceed wrong way down this particular stretch of road. Apart from the danger to unknowing pedestrians and oncoming traffic proceeding upwards – rightfully so – this to my mind constitutes a traffic contravention.

A visit to one of the coach company’s website informs me, and I quote: “...our drivers undergo regular refresher training in customer care and safety, responsible driving, and changes in legislation”.

I hope no actual reverse “changes in legislation” are being carried out in order to accommodate the ‘shortcut’ used by the above-mentioned drivers!
