A nightclub owner was fined €2,131 for allowing minors into his establishment, after they were taken there by their teachers.

A 16-year-old boy testified that after a school-leaving ceremony last June he went to Paceville with a group of students accompanied by two teachers.

It was actually the teachers’ idea to go to Chequers and, when they arrived, the bouncers did not ask to see their identity cards, the teenager testified before Magistrate Ian Farrugia.

The court held the club’s owner – Glen Ciantar, 18, from Attard – responsible for allowing the teenagers in.
