A new Microsoft innovation centre will open in October, involving an investment of more than €3 million spread over three years. Microsoft aims to create 100 jobs as a spin-off, assist 14 business start-ups and train 500 students and 300 ICT professionals.
The centre will be among Microsoft’s first around the world to focus on cloud computing, a network of remote servers hosted on the internet to store, manage and process data.
“We’ll increase the local capacity in cloud computing significantly and enable even those individuals and businesses with less means to gain essential skills to be more competitive,” Communications Minister Austin Gatt said.
