Mr Green held a press launch at the Hilton Portomaso on the occasion of the kick-off of their Clean the Seas project. Environment Minister Jose Herrera delivered an opening speech, praising the efforts of companies as well as youths today who are becoming increasingly active in safeguarding the environment.

Through its latest project, award-winning, online gaming operator Mr Green, known for its commitment to sustainability both in terms of responsible gaming as well as business ethics and the environment, is enabling a structured initiative to clean the Maltese coastal waters and spread awareness about the health of the Mediterranean sea.

Throughout the coming summer months Mr Green employees, in collaboration with students from the University of Malta and MSc students from the University of York, UK – studying marine environmental management – and under the direction of Prof. Alan Deidun – will clean the shores and waters around Malta.

Using a Mr Green-branded rib they will also collect data on the health levels of the sea as part of an academic study about marine environment and plastics. The Mr Green rib left Portomaso Marina for the first time on July 5 during the launch of the project.

“Living in Malta we share the greatest benefit of enjoying the beautiful sea around us. But will it maintain its beauty and attraction for long if we do not see the damage of our own footprint and act responsibly to keep it clean and healthy for generations to come?” said Mr Green Ltd CEO Jesper Kärrbrink.

“We look to drive awareness of the health status of the sea by spreading the knowledge we obtain from the studies and from the physical appearance we have around the beaches of Malta. We hope to be able to leave an educational and sincere effect on the individuals we meet throughout the summer and through sharing the research material we produce.”
