The first concert of this year’s edition of the Bir Miftuħ International Festival is taking place on May 23.

Organised by Din l-Art Ħelwa and supported by the ADRC Trust in collaboration with the Embassy of Spain, the festival will feature a classical guitar recital by Francisco Bernier who will perform works by Fernando Sors, Hector Villa Lobos, Isaac Abéniz, Agustín Barros Mangoré and Francisco Tarrega.

The second concert will be held on May 31. Sponsored by the Embassy of France and the Alliance Française de Malte – Méditerranée, it will see a violin and violoncello recital by Agnès Pyka and Sébastien Hurtaud, performing works by Ludwig van Beethoven, Maurice Ravel, Reinhold Glière and George Frederick Handel.

The third and last concert will be performed by the Arianna Art Ensemble on June 6. This Concerto all’ Italiana, made possible with the support of the Italian Cultural Institute under the patronage of the Embassy of Italy, will feature works by Antonio Vivaldi.

A reception will be hosted by DLĦ after each concert, which as usual will be held at the medieval chapel of Santa Marija ta’ Bir Miftuħ in Gudja.
