Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest will be screened live from Broadway at St James Cavalier, Valletta, on June 2.
The Importance of Being Earnest is a comedic masterpiece about class, courtship and good old-fashioned name dropping.
Tony Award winner Brian Bedford directs and stars as Lady Bracknell in this trivial comedy for serious people.
Vogue magazine describes the play as “Profoundly funny and deeply moving. Brian Bedford is giving the performance of a lifetime”; a critic from the UK Daily Telegraph claims it’s “The finest performance of The Importance of Being Earnest that I have ever seen.”
The performance is being produced by the Roundabout Theatre Company.
It was recently nominated for three Tony Awards: Best Revival of a Play, Best Actor (Brian Bedford) and Best Costumes (Desmond Heeley).
There will be encore screenings on June 5,10 and 25.
