Two last events of the Malta International Music Festival will be held today and tomorrow.

Today’s The Magic Cello features Narek Hakhnazaryan on cello, accompanied by the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Tigran Hakhnazaryan. Narek will be playing excerpts from works by Tchaikovsky, Elgar and Shor.

Since winning the Cello First Prize and Gold Medal at the XIV International Tchaikovsky Competition in 2011 at the age of 22, Hakhnazaryan has performed with most major orchestras and in recitals across the globe and has established himself internationally as one of the finest cellists of his generation.

Tomorrow’s The Enchantment of the Crystal Sound will feature Austrian clarinettist Andreas Ottensamer, who will also be accompanied by the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Sergey Smbatyan.

Ottensamer will be making his Maltese debut with variations on famous melodies. He will be playing excerpts from Maltese composer Charles Camilleri and Sergei Prokofiev.

Both concerts will take place at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta at 8pm. For tickets, visit www.showshappening.com or call the MCC’s booking office on 2559 5750.
