Hospice Malta has been awarded the European Parliament’s Citizen’s Prize for 2014.

The palliative care organisation was nominated for this year’s prize by all six Maltese MEPs and the award given during a ceremony hosted by the European Parliament Office in Valletta.

Hospice Malta chairwoman Lora Cascun thanked the MEPs for their nomination and lauded the team that makes up the organisation.

Ms Cascun said Hospice Malta is currently seeking to expand the services it offers in order to support patients with different conditions.

The Maltese MEPs decided to nominate the movement “to reward their noble efforts in providing care to so many patients and their families. Hospice values each one of them as unique individuals, irrespective of their race, religion or lifestyle”.

The European Parliament awards ‘The European Citizen’s Prize’ in several countries for exceptional achievements by citizens, groups, associations or organisations.
