Simonds Farsons Cisk plc, long-standing partner of the Malta Rugby Football Union (MRFU), has announced the renewal of its sponsorship agreement with the MRFU for a further three years through its flagship brand, Cisk.

Karl Bondin, beers brand manager at Simonds Farsons Cisk, said, “Farsons has been a supporter of Maltese rugby for many years, sponsoring the MRFU with its brand Cisk, and supporting the sport at club level with other beer brands within its portfolio. We have always been very proud of our association with Maltese rugby and of the giant leaps of progress the sport has made in Malta.”

“The national team’s continued good results achieved over the years and in particular the recent impressive wins against Andorra and Israel last month augur very well for the sport and we wish them well in their future international matches,” he added.

Farsons’ sponsorship of the MRFU started when rugby was still a little-known sport on the island. Following the national team’s success in international matches, and the hard work put in by the MRFU, rugby is now a thrilling and popular sport that is eagerly followed by always increasing enthusiastic crowds.

“The constant support of sponsors is the foundation of the extraordinary achievements of Maltese rugby. It is only through the steadfast support of Cisk Lager and other sponsors that we continue as a national entity,” said Steve Busuttil, president of the MRFU.

The Maltese national rugby team is currently ranked 37th by World Rugby, having won its international matches last month against Israel 24-17 and against Andorra 89-3.
