Brian Cini and Alex Borg will represent Malta at the World Championships for Teams which will be played in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, this week.

Cini and Borg are being ranked among the favourites after combining perfectly to win the European Championship for Teams, an event that took place in Lithuania, last month.

The Worlds will be contested by no fewer than 101 teams from 27 countries. They will play in the Open, Masters and Women’s Championship.

The organisers at Sharm El Sheikh will also host a 6 Reds Tournament in parallel with the World Championship, also starting tomorrow.

With Borg unable to play in the 6 Reds, due to his participation in the World Snooker Association Main Tour this season, Cini will be Malta’s only representative in this competition.

Meanwhile, it was confirmed that Borg has been selected by the European Billiards and Snooker Association (EBSA) to form part of a special committee whose main task will be to monitor the progress of the game across the continent.

This group also includes EBSA chairman Maxime Cassis and World Snooker Association head Jason Ferguson.
