Legal action will be taken against retailers selling cigarette packets not bearing the stipulated health warnings by June 22, the Environmental Health Directorate said yesterday.

The directorate, which falls within the Public Health Regulation Department, reminded all tobacco traders and retailers that they were obliged to comply with Legal Notice 302 of 2009 about the use of colour photographs as health warnings on tobacco packages.

Retailers and vending machines operators should ensure that all non-compliant stock is removed from sale.

The directorate can be contacted on 2133 7333 or 2132 4093 between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.
