May I congratulate The Times and Intercontinental Hotel for the excellent dialogue and discussion conducted last Tuesday on the late Cardinal Martini’s last interview, which has created a healthy reaction in the Church both local and universal.

These are important occasions for the Church and I was pleasantly surprised and impressed at the response and participation of the lay people who contributed in no small way to the occasion’s success.

May I invite all participants and others to continue the discussion on Vatican II that has just started by taking part in a monthly talk and discussion by top local and foreign theologians and lay people who will take up controversial issues such as the role of women in the Church, the original sin, science and faith, the priesthood of the laity, collegiality and others.

The first talk will be given by Fr René Camilleri on what Vatican II means for the Church on Thursday, October 18, at WoW Auditorium, next to the Millennium chapel in Paceville. The series of talks is organised by the Friends of Augustine of the Millennium chapel.
