The New Choral Singers will perform in their annual seasonal concert Musical Tidings tomorrow and on Friday, under the direction of Wayne Marshall.

World acclaimed BBC Proms virtuoso organist and conductor Marshall is currently chief conductor of WDR Funkhausorchester Cologne and Organist and associate artist of the Bridgewater Hall.

Under the musical guidance of Shirley Helleur, the choir has prepared a varied repertoire of evergreen Christmas carols that are bound to appeal to audiences of all ages. These include traditional numbers such as Ding! Dong! Merrily on High and Ninu, Ninu tal-Milied as well as select pieces from contemporary composers.

Furthermore, Marshall will be conducting the choir in his inimitable charismatic style while also accompanying the choir on the organ. In the spirit of Christmas, the audience will be invited to join the choir in song for a couple of traditional favourites.

The concerts are being organised in collaboration with Lions Club Sliema. With 46,000 clubs and over 1.4 million members worldwide, the Lions Club is the world’s largest service club organisation. Members do whatever is needed to help their local communities, with the Sliema Lions Club being the largest on the Maltese islands.

■ Tomorrow’s performance is being held at 7.30pm at St Paul’s Pro-Cathedral in Valletta, while the second performance will be held on Friday at 7.30pm at the Floriana parish church. While entrance to the concert is free of charge, a retiring collection will be made in aid of the Malta Guide Dogs Foundation, the Helen Keller Foundation Malta and the Ursuline Creche.
