Parliament last night unanimously approved a government motion giving a parcel of land at Pembroke to the government of China for the purpose of building an embassy.

The government had proposed the devolution of over 19,000 square metres of land in the area on the same conditions adopted by the former administration for the land given to the US in Ta’ Qali for the American embassy.

The Opposition had backed the proposal so long as the development followed national planning and environmental requirements.
