Thousands of students return to school on Monday after having made the most of their Easter holidays.

Older students have had time to catch up on their studies before they start their O or A level exams.

The younger ones are slightly more demanding and it is up to their parents or guardians to keep them busy and occupied. One sure way of doing it is giving them popcorn and taking them to watch a good film.

KRS Film Distributors are confident they can provide the perfect end to the Easter holidays this Saturday with the 26th edition of Children’s Cinema Day, held twice yearly.

Children will be offered a selection of films, including new releases, with genres varying from animation adventures to comedies, family fantasies, action thrillers and adventure drama fantasy.

The films being shown are The Croods, Life of Pi, Parental Guidance, Rise of the Guardians, Skyfall, Tinkerbell and The Secret of the Wings, Sammy’s Great Escape, Cirque du Soleil, Wreck-it Ralph, Oz the Great and Powerful, Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted, So Undercover, Here Comes the Boom, Monsters Inc., Hotels Transylvania and Jack the Giant Slayer.

KRS managing director Charles Pace said Children’s Cinema Day was very popular. “Both parents and children look forward to it. We get people calling in asking us when the next edition will be held.”

On Saturday, shows at all cinemas run from 9am to 7pm. Entrance fee for children is €2.50 and accompanying adults €4. 3D films cost a bit more to watch.

Films will be screened at the Eden Cinemas in St Julian’s, the Empire in Buġibba, the Embassy in Valletta and Tal-Lira in Fgura.
