Cheryl Fernandez-Versini got into the festive spirit as she switched on the Christmas lights in London’s Oxford Street on Thursday night.

The X Factor judge − who looks set to claim her fifth number one single with I Don’t Care on Sunday − wowed the crowds in a stunning black military tunic-style jacket.

The event was hosted by the street’s John Lewis store.

The singer, who wore her hair tied back, topped off her coat with a blinged-up poppy as she pushed the button to illuminate the famous shopping magnet.

Thousands gathered to help count down to the moment when she hit the button, turning on a display featuring 750,000 lower-energy LED bulbs, strung along the length of the famous London street.
