The price of The Times and The Sunday Times is to increase due to rising production costs.

The price of The Sunday Times will increase to €1.20 from next week while that of The Times from Monday to Friday will go up to 70c from tomorrow. The price of the Saturday paper will remain €1.

Allied Newspapers managing director Vincent Buhagiar said: “As the publishers of Malta’s leading newspapers, we consistently aim for higher standards to meet the growing expectations of our customers and we are constantly exploring ways of controlling our costs in order to keep the price of our newspapers as reasonable as possible.

“Notwithstanding this, like most services and products on the market, overall production costs have increased so much over the past years and it is no longer possible to offer readers newspapers at current prices.

“While we feel that we have still managed to keep our prices at an extremely reasonable level, the increase will nonetheless enable us to continue to invest in the kind of quality journalism that has, over the years, made us the undisputed provider of independent news content on the island.

“This has been, and will always remain, our foremost commitment to our readers.”
