The PV-IES Double-Handed Round Malta Race is always warmly welcomed by crews at the Royal Malta Yacht Club even though it is considered among the toughest challenges on the local sailing calendar.

Success depends on making use of the same skills as a fully-crewed boat but all the action is shared between two people. In this case, synergy between the duo on board is imperative for a successful race.

Saturday’s double-handed race sets off from Marsamxett at 8.55am.

The course will see crews setting sail round the island to the finish back in Valletta. If the race was not challenging enough, a time limit has been set at midnight.

“We are very proud to be supporting the Royal Malta Yacht Club with our marine and residential solar panels and look forward to see the outcome of this race,” Janice Borg, marketing executive at Island Engineering Services, said.

“We think there will be some very hard fought racing in the process by crews vying for the trophies that are in store for them.”

A prize-giving evening will take place on Sunday at the Royal Malta Yacht Club in Ta’ Xbiex.
