The hunters’ federation (FKNK) celebrated Mnarja in Buskett with various educational initiatives relating to local flora and fauna.

The events included wild bird feeding and the planting and care of local indigenous trees, particularly the Maltese national tree, locally known as Is-Siġra tal-Għarar (Sandarac Gum Tree).

A dog show was also organised to celebrate the Maltese hunting dog and pharaoh hound breeds, during which a process involving DNA and genetic pool testing to gain official international recognition of the indigenous breed, was kickstarted.

FKNK members who practise the art of falconry displayed their falcons and, as has become customary, a number of turtle doves bred in captivity by local breeders were released.
