A reveller during the morning march celebrating the feast of the Assumption in Victoria, Gozo, yesterday. The feast of the Assumption is celebrated in seven towns and villages in the Maltese islands. Yesterday also marked the arrival in Malta on the same day in 1942 of the American tanker Ohio with fuel and other supplies that saved the island from surrendering due to the severe lack of provisions during the Second World War.
