Beauty has long stopped being the main – or only – vehicle for any art. While modern art and artists pay homage to the masters of old, beauty has stopped being their main vehicle and they sometimes go in search of truths and artistic expositions which are hardly beautiful, even presenting what might traditionally be considered ‘scrap material’ as art.
When an artist is completely dedicated to beauty as we traditionally know it, then our eyes can feast on it?
This is not to say these works are not art. But one needs a big leap in understanding and appreciation to look at some depictions of art today and accept them without reservations.
So when an artist is completely dedicated to beauty as we traditionally know it, then our eyes can feast on it. This is the case with Marika Borg, whose art will be exhibited starting from Wednesday in the Manoel Theatre courtyard.
Borg’s art is all about colour and beauty that grab our attention with her mastery of the craft. The viewers of her art face no dilemma as to whether it is actually art or not, as beauty is celebrated in a multi-faceted, artistic way.
The exhibition is being organised by Artconnect and sponsored by FCM Bank.
