Originally established in the UK in 1996 as Magus International, KPMG Crimsonwing quickly recognised the benefits of having a near-shore development facility and started their Malta Solution Centre in 1998. In 2000, Magus International changed its name to Crimsonwing – after a West African bird found in Africa, which CEO David Walsh came across during his period of teaching in Kenya.

After that, 2007 marked the year KPMG Crimsonwing achieved Microsoft Gold Partner status and to further enrich its Microsoft Dynamics capabilities, it acquired Percato Ltd in the UK, as well as a significant controlling interest in the Promentum Group in the Netherlands.

The focus on Microsoft technologies continues to this day, especially after Crimsonwing was acquired by KPMG in 2015. In fact, Mr Walsh said that “the ambition for our [KPMG and Crimsonwing] venture together was very clear from the start: to be able to deliver Microsoft enabled business transformation”.

The KPMG acquisition made KPMG Crimsonwing the largest of the big four in Europe to provide Microsoft Dynamics consulting and implementation services. This also means that KPMG Crimsonwing is now helping the wider KPMG network secure new business in previously untapped markets such as Canada and South Africa, among others.

Besides allowing its staff to work with huge organisations – TGI Fridays and YMCA Canada to name just a few – KPMG Crimsonwing enables its staff to travel abroad and further enrich their professional development.  Jorge Fonseca, project manager, said that “even if I only joined one year ago, it feels like I have been working here all my life. I am now managing a multimillion-dollar international project involving Malta, the UK and Canada. This allows me to grow both as a person and as a professional”.

Mr Walsh stated that “using KPMG’s industry, analytical and best practice know-how, we are at the forefront of helping businesses address and exploit the tremendous opportunities of digital transformation – delivered as end-to-end business transformation”.
