I would like to give a word of advice to Mario Attard who wrote (June 27) about dogs that weigh more than nine kilos, accompanying owners travelling to/from Sicily, being kept in the catamaran garage during the crossing.

I have been fighting this battle for the past years, with letters appearing on this newspaper. I had to stop because, last year, I lost my temper with the officer in charge of boarding cars because he would not accept my plea to park my car where the air circulates better so that my dog, locked inside the vehicle, could breathe.

The cages in the garage are much worse than the cars.

Virtu Ferries officials took the trouble to contact me to warn me that, if I complained again, I would not be allowed on the catamaran again. Since I cannot travel by plane and Virtu Ferries have the monopoly on the Malta-Sicily crossing, I had to comply.
