Several people were injured in a fight at the Ta’ Qali open market yesterday over the allocation of space for stalls.

Sources said the fight took place at about 12.45pm when some hawkers argued over the allocation. Some accused others of taking up their space.

The punch-up involved a large group and relatives, including women. The sources said metal poles used for stalls were used in the fight.

Mobile squad units were deployed but the situation had calmed when they got there.
