Palm trees at Castille Square, in Valletta, were removed by Environment and Landscape Consortium workers this week. Some of the trees had been infected by the red palm weevil and the others were uprooted as part of an embellishment project of the square, which will feature a monument to the late former prime minister Dom Mintoff.
