Nationalist MEP David Casa has been elected the EPP leader for the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs.

The role involves leading a team of advisers and organising the EPP’s work in the committee. Mr Casa will act as the chief negotiator for the EPP on employment and social affairs and has absolute discretion over the appointment of MEPs as rapporteurs and shadow rapporteurs.

Meanwhile, Labour MEP Marlene Mizzi has been appointed vice president of the Petitions Committee of the European Parliament by the Socialist group.

Labour MEP Miriam Dalli was appointed as a member on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety Committee by the Socialist group and former Prime Minister Alfred Sant was appointed member of the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs.
