Edward Caruana Dingli and Saho Harada, winners of race one in the Power Bar Open Water Swimming Championships, maintained their winning form in the second race, held recently in St Paul’s Bay.

Caruana Dingli swam unchallenged around the four 500-metre laps, covering the distance in 26 minutes 56 seconds.

His nearest rival, Jordan Calleja, could not sustain the pace he showed in the opening race, finishing the two kilometres in 29 minutes 45 seconds, more than two minutes slower that his previous display.

However, Calleja still managed to finish second, ahead of reigning champion Roberto Demicoli who was third in 31 minutes, 7 seconds.

Japan’s Harada Saho had to be at her very best to see off the challenge of Ricarda Kohllappel and Charis Ceccarelli in the women’s race.

Harada clocked 31 minutes to Kohllapell’s 31:17 and Ceccarelli’s 31:46.

The third race from the championships, organised by Birkirkara SJ, will be held on Wednesday.
