Several cars stored at the government compound in Ta’ Kandja were damaged yesterday when a blaze, probably started by a grassfire, engulfed the area.

Members of the Civil Protection Department were alerted to the fire at around 3.45 p.m. and used more than six bowsers of water to control the blaze.

The compound is used to store vehicles which were seized as part of criminal investigations, as well as cars held in connection with registration tax issues.
