It’s the season when everyone enjoys a good carol, and Carolling Christmas, a Christmastide concert presented by San Lawrenz parish church and Schola Cantorum Jubilate, will help everyone enjoy just that.

The concert, which features the Brass Tubes, will include various Christmas classical pieces, some of which will be interpreted a cappella by the choir, while others will be played by the brass ensemble.

Finally, all musicians will together interpret further Christmas music. Soloists Marouska Attard and Albert Buttigieg will perform other pieces, among which the most requested and acclaimed solo Christmas piece, Oh Holy Night.

Having skipped this year’s edition of Carols by Candlelight, Schola Cantorum Jubilate wanted to offer music lovers a touch of Christmas spirit nonetheless.

The concert is also an expression of gratitude towards the parish church for recently presenting the choir with the Golden Palm Award for its continuous commitment in the local music sector.

The parish church is very active during the Christmas period, with a number of events that include the annual Christmas pageant.

Schola Cantorum Jubilate is a youth choir which performs every Sunday at the Xagħra Basilica, from where the majority of choristers hail. Throughout the year, the choir is active with various performances and concerts, obtaining two awards this year; the Golden Palm and Silver Medal in the fifth Malta International Choirs Festival, organised by Interkultur, the Tourism Ministry and the Malta Tourism Authority.

The award was obtained in the Sacred Music category for mixed choirs and Schola Cantorum Jubilate was the only Maltese choir participating.

Carolling Christmas is being held on December 27 at 7.30pm. Entrance is free.
