Six weeks ago, Lily, one of our three beloved adopted stray dogs, developed a tumour on her left foreleg. Within a week this turned into a huge sore and the leg swelled four to five times its normal size.

Trevor Zammit and his full team of vets and assisitants at the Ċentru San Franġisk put all their time and resources into trying to save the leg and then, when eventually it had to be amputated, to save the dog.

Lily lost the battle last Saturday when her kidneys failed.

We cannot thank Dr Zammit and his team enough for their dedicated care over an extended period of time to try and save Lily. That includes all the staff at San Franġisk, including all the receptionists who were unfailingly polite and helpful even when the hospital was completely overrun with sick animals.

A huge thank you to all!

As an aside, we posted our thanks on the San Franġisk Facebook page. We tried to do the same on the Facebook page about “Codie’s fatal stay” but, to our amazement, our positive post must have been filtered out as it never appeared. This harmful Facebook page can only be detrimental to all those injured and sick strays that don’t find their way to the centre due to the narrow-minded, preconceived, negative brainwashing that this page generates.

In conclusion, we would appeal to the kind-hearted animal lovers in Malta to find space in their home to adopt one of these hundreds of animals in need of love and care.
