The fishing village of Marsaxlokk was the backdrop of quite an unusual catch by the Armed Forces of Malta on Sunday: a dead cow floating on the water.

The search for the carcass had been going throughout the weekend as the AFM kept getting reports of sightings from people on boats, particularly in the vicinity of Delimara.

Once it was tracked down, AFM personnel pulled it on to a rigid dinghy. With the help of workers from the Infrastructure Ministry, it was then transported to a pier by means of a high-up and taken to the Government’s incinerator.

It is not known how the cow ended up in the sea.
