Gasan Mamo Insurance employees have kick-started a car pooling initiative in an effort to reduce fuel consumption and be kinder to the environment.

An initiative of the internal Green Team, thecar-sharing system involves decreasing the dailycar trips to Gasan Mamo’s head office and branches, with two to three employees sharing a car oneach trip.

“When more people use one vehicle, this reduces the number of cars on the road and therefore reduces carbon emissions,” said director Julian Mamo.

Gasan Mamo has been implementing environment-friendly schemes that reduce the company’s carbon footprint for a number of years now.

These include new heating and cooling systems, energy-saving lights and the recycling of used batteries.
