Valletta and Floriana will be the only areas affected by road closures today and tomorrow due to the Valletta summit on migration, the police said yesterday in a notice. Most roads will be closed off from 2pm today until early Friday morning.

All other areas will only be closed off temporarily if dignitaries are passing through and delays should be minimal, a Transport Malta representative said.

The MCP car park in Floriana will be open all day to both members and non-members and, while access to Valletta will be limited later on in the day, police will be giving directions to those leaving the car park after 2pm.

The Barrakka Gardens, Barrakka lift and Castille Place will be closed until Friday morning. Asked about access to the airport and the St Julian’s and Sliema areas, which earlier this week were expected to be affected by heavy traffic congestion, Transport Malta representatives insisted there should not be any problems.

Transport Malta insisted there should not be any problems with airport access or in St Julian’s or Sliema

Malta Public Transport announced on Monday that, with the exception of the Valletta circular route, there were no planned diversions or interruptions to the service.

The ferry service between Sliema and Valletta will also operate as usual, although a Transport Malta notice stated navigation would be restricted in certain designated zones.

The service from Cospicua to Valletta will not operate today between 5.15pm and 6.30pm, on Thursday between 7.30am and 9.45am, and again between 12.45am and 2pm.

A freephone service was set up yesterday by Transport Malta to tackle queries on traffic arrangements. Callers can request information on specific areas – Safi, Luqa, Marsa, Msida, Valletta and Floriana – or speak to one of Transport Malta’s representatives.
