The second Island Car Club racing series of the season at Mtaħleb, and the fifth of the 2011 championship, was held earlier this month and had a line-up of 68 cars.
Hubert Camilleri has been in scorching form lately. After the first official run, he topped the time-sheets with a lap of 53.961 seconds. Camilleri was followed by Alan Curmi (54.549) and Zach Zammit (54.650).
Nicolai Degiorgio, in his Raging Lancia, was the first driver from the Saloon cars category with an impressive 57.440 seconds. Joseph Cutajar was second in an Escort MK2 Cosworth ahead of Anthony Bernard in his Mitsubishi Evo.
John Zammit (Lotus) and Teddy Aquilina (Escort) also made it into the top 10 in just over a minute.
The second timed run saw most of the competitors improve on their previous laps as the day became warmer, rendering more grip to the track.
But it was Camilleri, again, who stole the limelight in his Chevron when powering his way up the hillclimb in a new record time for the venue of 53.268 seconds.
Curmi, in his J&J single-seater, was second and Zammit (Jagger Ralt Honda) third.
On the day, other notable times were also recorded by Mark Micallef (Alfa Sud), Etienne Grech (Citroen Saxo) and Jason Muscat (Clubsport Radical).
