The speed cameras set up on St Paul’s Bay bypass last week are now operational and have been set at 80km/h.

Signs indicating the camera’s presence on Dawret San Pawl il-Baħar, also known as the St Paul’s Bay bypass, have been added to signage showing the national speed limit.

The transport watchdog gave the go-ahead for the cameras, as the Local Councils Northern Regional Committee had been advocating their installation following residents’ complaints about speeding and races taking place on the bypass.

The installation of the cameras at the end of last month immediately sparked an online petition calling for their removal.
