My husband and I recently had a wonderful holiday on your beautiful island. We have visited Malta on several occasions. The Maltese people make you feel very welcome and have a warm, friendly smile.
There is, however, one thing we would like to mention, as we know how culture and history mean a lot to the Maltese people.
While visiting St John’s Co-Cathedral and admiring its priceless history, a group of tourists came in with their guide.
Everything was fine until all of a sudden we were seeing camera flashes. These can cause such harm to special historical monuments, especially to the famous paintings of the Beheading of St John and St Jerome. We know it means the world to your country and, although there are signs that instruct you not to take flash photography, plus constant reminders by the helpful staff, they were still ignored.
If only there was a security guard present near these famous paintings, we are sure that less harm will be done.
It is such a shame that such matters are not taken more seriously and dealt with in a much more professional manner. We hope our comments will be taken into consideration.
We would also like to say we will be visiting Malta again in the near future.
