Inverness boss Terry Butcher believes his side can continue their perfect run in Glasgow this season by upsetting Premier League champions Celtic for a second time.

The Highlanders’ trips to Glasgow have proved especially fruitful this season – they knocked Rangers out of the Scottish League Cup with a 3-0 win at Ibrox on October 31 before stunning the Hoops a month later with another 1-0 triumph.

They now head south for their third visit to the city for today’s match at Celtic Park, where the Hoops can finally secure their second straight title with a draw.

But Butcher aims to spoil the party atmosphere and set his side up for a European push with five games remaining.

The Caley boss – whose side follow up their Parkhead trip with another away match at St Johnstone, then host Motherwell and Dundee United before finishing with a Highland derby against Ross County in Dingwall – said: “We’ve beaten Celtic down there, and Rangers too. Whenever we play in Glasgow, we win. It’s as simple as that.

“Our away displays this season have been excellent. We have got two away fixtures at the start of this run-in – two great games to look forward to.

“We want to make our mark right away. When (assistant) Maurice (Malpas) and I took Motherwell into the top six, we didn’t win a game for a long while. Ironically, the first one we did win was when we deprived Celtic of the title.

“So this time, what better way to start (the top-six fixtures) than to go down there and do well again?”

Caley Thistle currently sit third in the table, holding all the aces in the race for the second Europa League slot.
