On April 30, I applied for a Tallinja card for my wife and myself at the Transport Malta kiosk at the Ferries. I submitted two completed application forms with photographs, which were duly checked by the clerk on duty, and paid €32.23. The lady informed me that the processing and issuance of the cards normally take three to four weeks and that I should contact Malta Transport if I did not receive it by then.

After about 10 days, I received my card but my wife’s did not arrive. I was expecting it to arrive within a few days but, to this very date, that is 67 days later, it has not yet been received.

Needless to say my credit card was debited within three days.

My first call to Transport Malta was quite frustrating as the clerk kept insisting that, as they had no record of my wife’s application, I had to go back to the kiosk to register my complaint, which I reluctantly did. As this was followed with several other calls that did not get me anywhere, I have no option but to solicit the intervention of the Ministry of Transport to have my wife’s card issued.

Transport Malta spokesperson: This letter refers to Transport Malta when it should refer to Malta Public Transport.
