Permits for new dwellings dropped by 19.4 per cent in the second quarter this year compared with the first quarter, the National Statistics Office said. This was due to drops of 11.5 and 11.1 per cent respectively in permits for one-dwelling buildings and apartment blocks.
The NSO said year-on-year data showed employment in construction rose by 0.6 per cent. Wages and salaries advanced by 5.9 per cent, with specialised construction activities and civil engineering the main catalysts of growth.
