Serie A strugglers Pescara have confirmed the appointment of Cristian Bucchi as their new head coach, promoting the 36-year-old from his role with the youth team.
Bucchi takes over from Cristiano Bergodi, who was sacked in the wake of Sunday’s defeat to Udinese, which left the team five points from safety.
No details about the length of contract were given and the club announced on their website that Bucchi attended his first training session yesterday.
The former striker retired in 2011 after a career spent mainly in Serie B. He will take charge of the side even if he doesn’t have the necessary coaching qualifications.
“Bucchi will have special dispensation for the next 30 days,” Pescara president Daniele Sebastiani said.
“That will give us enough time to find a solution.”
