I am writing this short piece to make people aware of the society we are living in.

I am over 70 years of age and currently living over the wardens’ office in St Paul’s Bay. There is a daily stream of wardens and police officers but incredibly in the short time I have lived in this block I have had the rear lights of my motorised wheelchair stolen, then, last week, the reflector jacket and the final straw came the other day when the wing mirror and the front light reflector were stolen.

All this happens inside the block but as usual no one has seen anything. I have made reports to the police but this is just mindless.

I worked hard all my life so I can enjoy my retirement and these thefts are making my life a misery. Apart from the cost of replacing the items, which would be useless to anyone else, I find it all the more unsettling knowing this happens inside our building.

I think everyone needs to be aware, especially when coming into Buġibba, that, sadly, it’s going downhill fast.
